Samsung Galaxy S25 will launch with the same 4,000mAh battery as Galaxy S24: Report

Date:

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series includes the standard model Galaxy S24+ and the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra, which launched in January with several new features and upgraded processors. Although their successors aren’t expected to arrive for several months, rumours about next year’s Galaxy S series handsets have already started surfacing online. Over the past few weeks, we’ve learned details about the camera and chipset on the alleged Samsung Galaxy S25. Now details about the handset’s battery have surfaced online.

Samsung Galaxy S25 battery details leaked

According to a report (in Dutch) by GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S25 will have a 4,000mAh battery, just like the current-generation Galaxy S24 model. The upcoming phone is said to have a rated battery capacity of 3,881mAh like its predecessor, and this means the advertised normal capacity will be 4,000mAh.

The publication also states that the South Korean tech group has registered the name “Galaxy S25” in Mexico to protect the brand. The handset is said to have the model number SM-S931.

Samsung has upgraded the battery in its previous Galaxy S series phones.

There have been changes in the battery capacity of Galaxy S series smartphones over the years. The older Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 models came with a 4,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S22 got a smaller 3,700mAh battery. Samsung equipped the Galaxy S23 model launched in January 2023 with a 3,900mAh battery.

The battery capacity of the Galaxy S24 has increased by 100mAh to 4,000mAh. Although enthusiasts expected the battery capacity to exceed 4,000mAh in 2025, the report suggests that this may not be the case. The Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra are equipped with 4,900mAh and 5,000mAh battery units, respectively.

It’s advisable to take these details with a grain of salt, as the alleged Samsung Galaxy S25 isn’t expected to arrive for several months.

Samsung may announce the Galaxy S25 lineup in January 2025 with significant design changes based on the company’s previous launch schedule. The vanilla model is likely to feature a larger 6.36-inch display – the current model has a 6.2-inch screen. It is likely to run on the Exynos 2500 chipset in all markets. Samsung is rumoured to use a Sony image sensor as the main camera on the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+, ditching the ISOCELL sensor.
