Do you have to return your Amazon products for free? Find out how


Have you made a recent purchase from Amazon that didn’t live up to your expectations? If you want to return it, you may be surprised to learn that the online retailer now charges a $1 fee to return certain packages to UPS. Fortunately, Amazon still offers plenty of ways you can return your package. Return items for free,

For the most part, the process is pretty simple. All you have to do is pick up the Amazon products you want to return, then head to the nearest drop-off location. If you don’t have the box your items came in, don’t worry: you can still pack and ship your items to any of these locations for free.

Return your package to Kohl’s or Staples

If you live near a Kohl’s or Staples store, returning items to Amazon is easy. When you begin the return process on Amazon, select Kohl’s Dropoff Or Staples Dropoff Choose your preferred option. Amazon will send you a QR code that you’ll need to bring with you when you go to the store (you can also show a picture of the QR code on your phone).

Once you give your return to a Kohl’s or Staples employee and show them the QR code, they’ll pack, label, and ship your items for free. Even better? Sometimes the store gives you a coupon when you make your return.

Whole Foods Market also accepts Amazon returns

You can also choose Whole Foods Market as a drop-off location for your Amazon return. Note that if your preferred store isn’t listed, your item or location may not be eligible. Also, only select stores offer no-box returns.

Once you make your selection, Amazon will email you a QR code for a Whole Foods employee to scan. Take that and the items you need to return and head to a Whole Foods customer service desk or return kiosk. From there, an employee will take it and ship your package.

Drop off your stuff at a UPS store

You can also take your return to a UPS store. When choosing how to return your Amazon purchase, select UPS Store DropoffYou don’t have to have your items boxed or labeled. Instead, The UPS Store will pack, label, and ship your return for free. UPS will email you a return shipping code ahead of time that you’ll need to show an employee. Just keep in mind that Amazon may charge a $1 fee if you choose UPS but another drop-off location is closer.

Have your package picked up by UPS

If your items are eligible for UPS pickup, you won’t even have to leave your home. When you begin the return process on Amazon, follow the return prompts and select UPS Pick-up,

In this case, you must pack the items you are returning. However, UPS will provide a return label. UPS will pick up your package the next business day, but you or another adult must be present. Keep in mind that Amazon may charge you a fee for this return option.

Visit a physical Amazon store

If you live near a place where Amazon Store – Amazon Fresh or Amazon Go – You can drop off your return there. (Note that Amazon is closing some of its physical storesFinding a location may be more challenging.) On Amazon, choose Amazon Store DropoffIf the item cannot be returned to the Amazon store, you will find other return options.

Amazon will send you a QR code that you can show to an Amazon store employee. You must bring the items in their original manufacturer’s packaging. And if you return items to an Amazon Fresh Pickup or Amazon Hub Locker location, you must bring them in a box or pack them in a box using the materials provided.

What about DoorDash?

DoorDash is testing a feature that will allow you to request a Dasher who will pick up your items and drop them off at a UPS, FedEx, or USPS location. However, your items must already be packaged and sealed and come with a prepaid return label attached. The package must weigh less than 30 pounds and be worth less than $500. The company hasn’t said when this option will become widely available; right now, it’s only available in select areas.
