The latest M2 iPad Air is the best model to carry this name forward and with the addition of an 11-inch variant as well as a brand new 13-inch model, it’s a viable alternative to the iPad Pro. It’s a better option for most people, especially when you can find it on a discount. The new iPad Air has a lot to get buyers excited, including a faster chip and a great display.

Although these iPad Airs use the older Liquid Retina technology, rather than the mini-LED of previous Pro models or the tandem OLED of the new M4 iPad Pro, they’re still nothing special. These models come in at a fraction of the price of the latest iPad Pro, starting at just $599, so it might be worth the splurge.

How much does the iPad Air cost?

The 11-inch model of Apple’s new iPad Air features landscape speakers that come with spatial audio for an immersive listening experience, and the 13-inch model offers extra bass to enhance the audio effect. While these tablets might be equipped with a slightly older M2 chip, they still promise to be powerful. The baseline 11-inch model with 128GB of storage is available for just $599, or you can upgrade to a 256GB model for $100 more. 512GB and 1TB models are also available for $899 and $1,099, respectively.

The iPad Air isn’t the only new option in town. If you’re looking for an Apple tablet that’s a little more cutting edge and rugged, the new iPad Pro might be right for you. These new Pro models promise to impress with upgrades to FaceTime camera placement and a slimmer redesign that makes it a more portable device. If you choose the Pro over the Air, you’ll easily pass up the M3 chip, as Apple has loaded the latest iPad Pro with the powerful M4 chip, which brings the ability to handle its all-new Ultra Retina XDR OLED display (offering 1,600 nits of brightness in HDR) and more. These upgrades come at a price, with the base model starting at $999. You can preorder the iPad Pro right now.

We also predict that we’ll soon see plenty of iPad deals on older models, which could be a better option for budget-conscious buyers who don’t mind the older generation models.

Are you ready to invest in the new iPad Air? We have information on how to buy the ultrathin iPad and accessories. You can preorder from Apple now, and we’ll update this page as new offers become available at other retailers, so keep checking back.

Best iPad Air preorder deals

You can now order the new iPad Air model directly from Apple, starting at $599. While we’re not getting any direct discounts on the latest iPad Air just yet, if you have an older iPad and don’t want to give it up, you can get up to $580 in trade-in credit toward your new device. Those who preorder with Apple Card can save a little extra with up to 3% cash back on their purchase.

Best Buy doesn’t have direct discounts on iPad Air models right now, but it is offering free gifts with your order. New and returning subscribers can get three months of Apple TV Plus and Apple Music, four months of Apple Arcade, and one month of MLS Season Pass for free. Three months of Apple Fitness Plus are also free, but this offer is exclusive to new subscribers.

If you have an older model iPad you want to sell, Best Buy is also offering up to $310 in trade-in credit for eligible devices.

Walmart is currently offering a small $14 discount on some configurations of the new iPad Air, but that’s better than getting nothing. There are better deals available elsewhere.

Target is offering all four colors of the new iPad Air models, but there are currently no direct discounts available. Target RedCard holders can save 5% on this purchase, which isn’t a big deal, and free shipping can save you even more.

Although B&H isn’t currently offering any discounts on Apple’s latest iPad Air models, that doesn’t mean you can’t save some money. If you have another Apple device you want to sell, whether it’s an iPad, Mac or Apple Watch, you can get a trade-in credit to bring the price down. Depending on the device, this could make your new Air free.

There is another way to save. If you use the B&H Payboo credit card for your purchase, you will get the tax amount back as a cash refund. This can be a pretty good amount depending on where you live.

Amazon is currently offering a direct discount on the new M2 iPad Air, although it’s a small discount. You can save $29 right now by ordering the 11-inch, while buyers of the 13-inch model can save up to $35. The discount may vary depending on the color you choose, so be sure to check before you buy.

Right now Verizon will give you up to $180 back in exchange for your old device, while there’s also an option to save $280 through bill credits when you buy a new 5G iPhone.

AT&T is currently offering $100 off the new iPad Air, with no additional purchase required. You can save more when you add any iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro to your cart via bill credits over 36 months. The savings you’ll make will depend on which models of iPhone and iPad you choose. Alternatively, you’ll save $100 when you buy a pair of Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses.
