Apple Developer Academy launches AI training for students and alumni

Date:

Apple is continuing its AI campaign, this time with its education offering. The company announced on Tuesday that it will offer training on the fundamentals of AI to all Apple Developer Academy students and mentors. Apple Developer Academy alumni can also attend the training.

Starting this autumn, students will learn how to build, train, and deploy machine learning models across Apple devices.

Apple says, “Courses will include the fundamentals of AI technologies and frameworks; Core ML and its ability to deliver faster performance on Apple devices; and guidance on how to build and train AI models from the ground up.”

The new curriculum will be offered to thousands of students and alumni across 18 developer academies in Brazil, Indonesia, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the United States.

Apple says the introduction of new technologies and APIs announced at last week’s WWDC will give students access to more tools to build apps. Swift Assist, a new feature in Xcode 16, acts as a companion for all a developer’s tasks and will let students experiment with new ideas. In addition, Apple says Swift 6 introduces new capabilities to increase code clarity and make concurrent programming easier.

“With the introduction of curriculum dedicated to AI and other new technologies, we’re excited to see what students will create to share with their communities and the world,” Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of worldwide developer relations, said in a press release.
