Airtel announces price hike on prepaid recharge plans and postpaid plans: New tariffs effective from July 3

Airtel on Friday announced that it is revising the price of its prepaid recharge plans and postpaid plans, increasing the cost by up to 20 per cent. The telecom operator said the new prices are part of its efforts to increase mobile average revenue per user (ARPU). According to the operator, tariffs for prepaid and postpaid data plans will be revised next week. Airtel’s price hike comes hours after rival Reliance Jio announced new tariffs on Thursday, raising prices of its plans in the country.

Airtel hikes prices of prepaid plans

After the new tariffs come into effect, Airtel’s prepaid customers will have to pay more to avail the company’s data and calling plans. The telecom operator says it is trying to increase ARPU to more than Rs 300 to remain profitable while continuing to invest in spectrum and network technology.

You can check the table below to see the updated price for each plan. The annual Rs 1,799 recharge plan and Rs 2,999 plan will see a hike of Rs 200 and Rs 600 respectively. It is worth noting that all the prepaid recharge plans offer unlimited voice calls and up to 100 SMS per day, except for the last three entries in the table as they are data add-on packs.
